Inter-State Bus Tragedy

Yet again we read news about an inter-state bus involved in a fatal accident. It has been quite a while since we last read about similar news, and two days ago it happened yet again, and this time it's suspected the bus driver was speeding, using mobilephone sms, and sleepy while driving.

According to passengers, the driver was speeding, overtaking and the vehicle wasn't moved at a comfortable manner, which may indicated the driver wasn't in a good state of condition to drive. Then what happen? The big bus plunged into road side, causing a death and many injuries.

Now the question is, what can the government do to prevent such things from happening again and again? What's the point of implementing some new regulation for a short while, then put aside when things or tragedy doesn't happen? Who should be blame for this failure? Of course bus driver take full responsibility of this, but authority must shoulder some of the blames as well.

It is yet again shown that authority doesn't carryout their duty as expected, and they failed to dictate the traffic offenders. Only when tragedies happened, they would came out with some figures showing this drivers has so much so summons over the last god damn years or months. Why wouldn't they send notices to express bus companies informing of black listed drivers, and keep up regular updated info to these companies?

It would be very troublesome for authority to look for particular reckless drivers since there are so many of them out there, and only a certain licence holder would be able to work as driver for bus company. Hence by using list of heavy vehicle driver obtaining from data in JPJ, they should update the list of blacklisted drivers to all bus companies.

I'm sure there must be some way to work out a deal for this, and that authority should at least implementing this in order to cut down the reckless drivers on the road. With this at least express bus companies are aware of the blacklisted drivers, and if or should incidents happened involving such drivers, then the bus company must shoulder part of the responsibility. This is to cut down on number of fatal tragedy happening again and again.

It is sad to read such news yet again, and that authority still never learn from the pass.
