Rafael Benitez Talking Rubbish!

I feel pitiful for all Liverpool fans out there because they have such an incompetent manager leading them for the coming season. Before yesterday I still have respect for him because over the years he has assemble a team, which I think is capable of challenging for EPL title in the coming season, but sadly for a person like him, after spending so much on players like Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel, Crouch and Veronin etc with the current backbone of Stevie G, Jamie Carreghar etc, he still felt it's not enough to challenge for the top prize.

This is a sound of a loser and to me he has no ambition at all and he's just living on borrow time at Liverpool. Probably he's hopeful that Tom Hicks and George Gillette is just like Roman Abramovich, who has a deep pocket and with no limit to the budget. Sorry Rafael, the game doesn't work this way.

To win the EPL you must have a consistent enough team to win week in week out, then you have to know your strongest team and try sticking to that team most of the time. Then from there you judge where the improvement is needed, and source for the appropriate players to fill in the system. A top world class player may or may not fit into your system, which is only judgable by yourself. The best example is Andrie Shevchenko, he's a prolific striker at AC Milan, and much is expected from him with such statue and name itself, but what happen then? After 2 years he's just one of the biggest and most expensive flop ever in football world, who is getting GBP130,000 per week just for attending some light training, sit on the bench on and off, and basically that's it.

Another example is within Liverpool itself. Fernando Morientez. He's one of the dealiest striker in the world, and why on earth he can shone in Real Madrid before, yet couldn't do it at Liverpool, but then he shine again when playing for Monaco. This shows Rafael Benitez doesn't know what system best suited Liverpool, and he also doesn't know what his best team and formation is. That'swhy after few years on he's still standing at where he is right now.

Man Utd and Chelsea are spending big on players, but they do not just buy for the sake of buying. They get the players they felt could improve the overall team performance, that's why they buy. As stated by Rafael, I think he's just putting pressure on their top management to folk out more money for him to spend blindly hopeful to strike the lottery. This is ridiculous.

Time to go Rafael, it's a make or break season in 2008/2009 for you I guess. If you are still lacking far behind the top three, I'msure your footstep will be lagging behind come December 2008, let alone May 2009.
